Nobody Expected [SPOILER] to Be Eliminated From ‘Survivor 41’ Before the Merge

Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for Survivor 41.

One of the things that makes Survivor so engaging is that it’s not just a game of surviving the wilderness but also about surviving socially and strategically.

To win, one has to form (seemingly) genuine connections with fellow players while vying for the million-dollar prize. But Survivor 41 is especially unique in that, instead of the traditional 39 days of survival, contestants have only 26 days to get to the end.

Every week, at least one tribe (Survivor 41 starts with three tribes of six people), votes off at least one person. But with Survivor, we never know what’s going to happen.

Last week, we saw the first part of a two-part episode that may or may not lead to a merge. We imagine that things will only get more chaotic as the competition continues. So, who was voted off in the Nov. 3 episode of Survivor?

Sydney was voted off of ‘Survivor 41’ in Episode 7 in a major twist.

Episode 7 of Survivor was basically all about the strategy going into the final tribal council before the merge. And it was a doozy. Once Erika chose to reverse the results of the Episode 6 immunity challenge (a no-brainer), the castaways were like chickens running around with their heads cut off.

It seemed like everyone was targeting Evvie, the only non-Luvu member who didn’t have immunity, but Xander vowed to protect her with his idol.

However, a wrench was thrown into their plan when they realized that Liana could steal Xander’s idol. So, Xander, Evvie, and Tiffany conspired to give Tiffany Xander’s advantages so they couldn’t be stolen. When Liana failed to steal his idol, we went into a “live tribal council,” meaning a new decision was made on the spot.

Between lots of back and forth with Naseer and Sydney in the middle, the Luvu alliance plus Shan, Ricard, and Liana decided to split their votes between Evvie and Sydney.

In a bold move following his intuition, Xander decided not to play the idol for Evvie. And history was made when Sydney forfeited her vote to use her “shot in the dark” for a chance at safety. But because of that move, Sydney was sent home, and both Evvie and Deshawn, whom the Yase alliance targeted, were safe.

Sydney was “relieved” she won’t be on the jury because she “never has to see their faces again.” But we wouldn’t be surprised if she’s back on Survivor again.

Who was voted off before Sydney in ‘Survivor 41’? Here’s a quick recap.

No surprise here, but the Ua tribe once again ended up in last place during the immunity challenge. Down to three members, they were already at a disadvantage, and then, they were forced down to just two remaining members.

Shan seemed to be in control, but when she was picked to go on an “adventure” with Liana, Ricard and Genie had time to talk strategy. Despite this, both Ricard and Genie seemed to trust Shan more than they trusted each other.

They were fully aware that Shan had the power, yet they still both felt more comfortable working with her. It was a strangely open power position that Jeff even remarked on. Regardless, Shan was forced to pick between “The Strategist or the Loyalist” — Ricard or Genie. Even though something broke between Shan and Ricard when he refused to give back her extra vote, Shan still decided to keep him around, and they voted out Genie in a 2-1 vote. (Genie voted out Ricard.)

But who will Outwit, Outplay, and Outlast all the votes? There are only 13 Survivor days left until we find out.

Tune into Survivor every Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST on CBS or stream it the next day on Paramount Plus.
