‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ Is Returning to Television in 2021

There are so many traditions that families have when the holidays roll around. When the weather starts changing and we move from summer to fall, we start thinking about Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the gift-giving holidays in December.

How can you watch ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ in 2021?

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown first aired on television back in 1966. Since then, it’s become a Halloween classic and one that the family tends to watch together to ring in the fall and scary season. Generations of kids have grown up watching this special on television.

The show features the Peanut gang as they celebrate Halloween. Linus hopes that this is going to be the year where he’s finally going to be visited by The Great Pumpkin. Charlie Brown gets invited to a Halloween party and the 25-minute mini-movie features all the “tricks and treats” the group gets into.

But, in 2020, the beloved holiday special didn’t air at all on network television — much to the chagrin of kids (and their parents). Anyone who wanted to watch it had to have a subscription to Apple TV Plus.

One benefit to the streaming shift was that families could watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown on-demand. Unfortunately, those who continued to maintain just their regular cable packages missed out on the Peanuts’ Halloween fun in 2020.

Thankfully for those who do not subscribe to Apple TV Plus (or who have already used up their free, one-week trial), there is still another option for families to watch the Charlie Brown Halloween piece in 2021.

Apple TV Plus partnered with PBS in 2021 to bring the classic back to network television.

In addition to its continued presence on Apple TV Plus, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will air on PBS and PBS Kids on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
